Presidential Primary and Ward Committee Election!

March 5th is election day, but mail in ballots are already being returned!  Don’t forget that in addition to the Presidential Primary, our 7 Ward Committees will be on the ballot in their respective wards.  Don’t forget to vote for your Ward Committee AND candidates for State Democratic Committee! 

Here is the Early Voting schedule for Woburn. All early voting for all wards will be at the Old Wyman School, 679 Main Street:

Saturday, February 24th	8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 25th	8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Monday, February 26th	9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday, February 27th	9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday, February 28th	9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday, February 29th	9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Friday, March 1st	9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

• Last day to Register to Vote ahead of the Primary is Saturday, February 24 at 5p.m. (the City Clerk will be open until 5p.m.).  
• Vote by Mail is still available – applications must be received by Tuesday, February 27th. Ballots must be received by close of polls, 8pm, on Tuesday, March 5.
• The last day to vote Absentee (in person) by visiting the Clerk’s Office is Monday, March 4th at Noon.
• On Election Day, Tuesday, March 5, polls are open 7a.m. to 8p.m. at your assigned polling location.

Woburn Democratic Caucus to elect
Delegates to the 2024 State Convention
& Spring Meeting

The Woburn Democratic City Committee will hold our annual caucus to elect Delegates and Alternates to the 2024 State Democratic Convention on Saturday, March 16 at 9:30a.m. at the American Legion, 194 Lexington Street, Woburn.  Doors will open at 9a.m. and all Woburn Democrats or those wishing to register as Democrat by our caucus time are welcome to participate – please note that registration closes at 9:45a.m.

Each Ward will hold a caucus to elect Delegates and Alternates.  Each of Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 will elect 4 Delegates and Alternates and Ward 6 will elect 3 Delegates and Alternates.  Those who are aged 16 by February 15, 2024 and are pre-registered to vote as Democrat may also participate (please bring a copy of your voter registration receipt).  The 2024 State Convention will be held at the DCU Center in Worcester on Saturday, June 1, 2024.  This is a nominating convention where Delegates will nominate a candidate for Senate.  Please find the Method of Selecting Delegates here. 

Youth (age 16-35), people with disabilities, people of color, veterans, and members of the LGBTQ+ community not elected as delegates or alternates during the caucus are encouraged to apply to be add-on delegates at the caucus or by visiting massdems.org/massdems-convention (as of the time of this newsletter the application is not yet available).

Immediately following the adjournment of the caucus, the WDCC will reconvene for a brief business meeting.

We are excited to have many returning committee members and several new nominees on the upcoming ballot!  Tell your family and neighbors to vote for you!

We will hold a meeting of the City Committee and Ward Committees on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 9:30AM at the American Legion, 194 Lexington Street.  Nominations for officers for City Committee and Ward Committees can be made in advance of or during the Organization Meeting.  We will advertise vacancies in the March newsletter, but all positions are open to anyone interested in running.   

Officer positions are:
Ward Committee:  Chair, Secretary, Treasurer (no fiduciary responsibility)
City Committee:  Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer (fiduciary responsibility), Outreach Officer
Titles in bold above indicate we have a legal obligation to fill these positions to maintain the committee. Public employees may not take a role as treasurer.

Volunteer opportunity

Help at our caucus on March 16, 2024!  We’ll need some volunteers to help us check in participants – must be available from 8:50a.m. – 10a.m. on 3/16.  Email woburndems@gmail.com to sign up!

Woburn Canvassing Volunteer Opportunity

We’d like to organize some canvasses of Woburn Democrats to share volunteer opportunities and let neighbors know that we have an active and engaged group of neighbors working to elect leaders that represent their values!
