Woburn DCC to co-host Governor’s Councillor Candidate Forum

In a cooperative effort to educate the voters in our communities about the role of the Governor’s Council and about the candidates running in the District 3 race, the Bedford DTC, Billerica DTC, Burlington DTC and Woburn DCC will host a forum for the Democratic candidates for the Governor’s Council District 3 race on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 7PM. The forum will take place at the studios of Woburn Public Media Center and will be moderated by Reading, MA Town Moderator Alan Foulds. Candidates are incumbent Marilyn Petitto Devaney and challenger Mara Dolan. The forum will air live and be recorded (no live studio audience). In Woburn, the live broadcast will be available on Woburn Public Media’s YouTube channel.
There is no Republican candidate in the District 3 Governor’s Councillor race, so the winner of the September 3 Democratic Primary will ultimately take the seat.

| There are several ongoing volunteer opportunities to help get Democrats elected in Massachusetts and across the nation. Following are some local initiatives. Your help is critical to success in 2024! “TAKE BACK THE HOUSE!” in 2024 as a DCCC Dialer! Taking back the House in 2024 is going to be an “all hands on deck” effort that takes each and every one of us. Join the DCCC Dialers as we aim to persuade, engage, and mobilize voters from every corner of the US to ensure they have the most accurate information to make the most informed decision possible when it comes time to cast our ballots in 2024. This volunteer opportunity was shared by Ward 2 member Jesse Weinstein at our 4/6 meeting. Dates: Multiple on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9:30PM Register Here Massachusetts Democrats Organizing Hub Phone Banking This spring, the Mass Dems Organizing Hub will be partnering with the Arizona Democratic Party to call Arizona Democrats and let them know how to sign up for the state’s Active Early Voter List. Voters on this list are automatically sent an early ballot for each election in which they are eligible to vote. By increasing awareness of this option, we hope to help remove barriers to voting and contribute to strong Democratic turnout in this critical state.New volunteers are welcome and training is provided! If you wish to submit through the Democratic City Committee, you must send an email by May 25, 2024. |
Woburn Democrats help elect DNC Delegates
On April 27, eight delegates and one alternate were elected at the 5th Congressional District Caucus held at Winchester High School. Democratic Whip Congresswoman Katherine Clark opened the caucus with remarks and former Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer acted as Parliamentarian for the caucus election. Woburn turned out in overwhelming numbers representing over 23% of all caucus attendees! Celebrating Carol Donovan
Transformative Gift Given to Regis College by Cummings Foundation
in Honor of Former State Rep. Carol Donovan
Congratulations to WDCC Secretary and Former State Representative Carol Donovan! Carol was recently honored by Cummings Foundation founders Bill and Joyce Cummings when they made a $2 million gift to Regis College to establish the Carol A. Donovan Endowed Dean of Nursing and a clinic in Woburn.
Quoted from the Regis press release: “Carol’s exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the people of Massachusetts shine brightly through her years of service, which commenced at Regis College,” warmly expressed Bill Cummings. “We are thrilled and honored to recognize Carol’s commitment to both the Commonwealth and the Foundation with this gift. As the next generation of healthcare professionals embarks on their education at Regis, we are confident that they will draw inspiration from Carol’s remarkable legacy.”
